About the Event
This year, this period of time which we are in, is dense. This year’s Communion: The Harvest curates an intentional gathering to decompress, to prepare, to converse, and to be together as we move into the 2024 Election season. An evening of offerings by the artists, this is a community ritual inviting us to discuss where we are, and what it may feel like to move onward into what is next.
COMMUNION is a mixer, salon, and social gathering curated around specific themes with a particular cohort of artists and community members in mind. Each Communion offers ways to connect, speak, and come together in performance, facilitated conversation, music, and food/rest/replenishment. Produced by TheREDprojectNYC, and led by Johnnie Cruise Mercer and Benedict Nguyễn, Communion 2024:The Harvest is co-produced by BAAD! within the 2024 Blaktinx Festival during their 25th Year Anniversary, with support from the Bronx Council on the Arts.
The evening will include food, a conversation led by Paloma McGregor, and a performance offering from Joya Powell//Movement of the People.
