Event Details

As we celebrate the Fifth Anniversary of Dancing While Black, what visions do we hold for Black and Brown dance artists over the next five years and beyond? What legacies can nourish our current endeavors and seed our future? What history requires completion and closure so that we may dance forward with confidence? What actions move us closer to goals of justice, safety, wellness and joy for ourselves and our communities?

A Long Table—a format conceived by theater artist Lois Weaver—is an open community conversation offering “food for thought.” It is neither a formal panel of experts nor a town hall meeting. All in attendance are warmly welcomed to participate, sharing experiences, ideas and questions. Guidelines for the unique Long Table process will be introduced by the curator/facilitator.
